Waterproofing Technical Report

A report puts in writing what a problem is and how it should be resolved. It contains findings, an assessment of which building element is the source, the system that needs to be applied, and the critical detail solutions for that system. The difference between a verbal briefing and a written report becomes clear after the work is finished.

The party preparing the report is not the party carrying out the work. For this reason, the solution specified is determined by the condition of the building — not by any manufacturer's product list. The report also makes it possible to compare quotations on a like-for-like basis.

Scope

What goes wrong when work proceeds without a report

How it works

  1. Site inspection

The building is visited in person. Neither diagnosis nor solution is discussed before this step is complete.

  2. Written report and technical specification

Findings, cause and required work are put in writing: which product, which thickness, in which sequence, with which detail.

  3. Line-by-line quotation evaluation

What is to be applied to which surface, how many square metres, which materials and the cost of each item are made clearly visible.

  4. Application supervision

Where required, the consultant is present on site; critical details are checked before they are covered and non-conformances are reported in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to prepare a report?

Reports are generally delivered within a few working days of the site inspection. For larger or more complex buildings the timescale may be longer; this is confirmed before the inspection.

Can I commission a report and have the work done by someone else?

Yes — that is the purpose of the service. The work specified in the report may be carried out by any contractor of your choice.

Does the report replace a court-appointed expert's report?

No. A court-appointed expert's report is a separate process. This service covers party technical consultancy; the report may be submitted to the file as technical evidence.
